Get your inspiration ready as Sand Safari brings new art elements from February 5 on Surfers Paradise.
Presented by Streets Ice Cream, Sand Safari will be showcasing large sand sculptures of DreamWorks characters and many more new elements such as Sea themed sculpture and photography exhibitions perfect for all ages.
Sand Trail
From February 5 to 28, you can witness Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, Shrek film characters turned into amazing sand sculptures at the Sand Trail located at Tweed Heads to Loganholme. There will be over 22 mini sand sculptures scattered. So check each area and search for your favourite character.
Sand & Sea Giant Sculpture Exhibition
Besides the amazing sand sculptures at Sand Trail, you will also see some giant inflatable street art and urban interventions brought to you by international artist, Filthy Luker. From February 5 to 28, the precinct will be taken over by sand and sea creatures. Look up and see some green tentacles, the hanging jellyfish, or a massive octopus.
Pop-up Photographic Galleries & Photography Competition
Along side Sand Trial and the Sand & Sea Giant Sculpture Exhibition is the Pop-up Photographic Galleries & Photography Competition.
Professionals, amateurs, as well as students of Surfers Paradise State Primary are invited to send in there Surfers Paradise Sand & Sea inspired photographs. Plus, you can also vote for your favourite photo in the People's Choice Award.
2016 Australian Sand Sculpting Championships
Ten talented sculptors will be competing for the 2016 title championship. Watch them carve 10 tonnes of sand and turn it into DreamWorks heroes. See these sculpture up close. If you see a favourite, then vote by placing a coin in the designated box of the sculpture. Viewing remains open 'til February 28th but the voting is only from February 12 to 14 and the announcement of winners will be on February 14th at 4pm.
