In 2015, the Australian University Games will head back to its spiritual home – the iconic tourist and sporting location of the Gold Coast. Expect over 7,500 university students from 42 universities this September.
Held each September/October, the Games is renowned for providing a friendly but competitive environment for Australian university athletes and is the flagship event on the national university sporting calendar. Since its inception in 1993, the Australian University Games (AUG) has grown to be Australia's largest annual multi sport event.
The Games has built up a reputation as a not to be missed, event attracting over 8,000 participants each year. The Games are recognised as a perfect opportunity to provide university athletes, many of whom are of Olympic standard, to compete against each other in a national multi sport event.
Each year the Games sporting schedule is made up of more than 30 individual and team sports. Off the sporting field, an action-packed, week-long social program is conducted to complement the sporting activities and enhance the event experience for participants. In 2015, the Australian University Games will be held on the Gold Coast from 27 September to 2 October.
Some of the sports events include: Basketball (men & women), Hockey (women), Lawn Bowls (open), Netball (women & mixed), Tenpin (open) and Volleyball (men & women).
